Our History

In September 1996 patent attorneys Dr. Burkhard Bressel, Volker Zucker, and Udo Effert created the partnership "Patent attorneys Effert, Bressel and colleagues". They established their office in Radickestrasse 48, close to the newly developed science and technology park Berlin Adlershof.

Since the very beginning the company's aim has been to give comprehensive and competent legal advice on industrial property rights as well as trademark law to clients in all fields of engineering. This includes assistance for obtaining and maintaining domestic and foreign property rights, defense and enforcement of our client's property rights, and contesting the property rights and property rights applications of third parties when they encroach upon our client's rights. The founding members of our partnership have covered technical fields ranging from chemistry and electro-technics to mechanics from the beginning.

The partnership has grown over the years and expanded its technical and legal expertise by welcoming patent attorneys Günter Köckeritz (2002), Dr. Joachim Brunotte (2003), and Dr. Bernhard Obst (2005). At the same time, our team of case workers and accountants also grew from three to ten members. Almost all newly recruited staff members received training as patent law clerks.

After patent attorney Effert left in 2007, the partnership was temporarily renamed Bressel and colleagues. Shortly after this, along with a change of legal form, it was again renamed - Patent attorneys Bressel and Partner.

In 2009 the partnership moved to larger premises at the heart of Berlin at Potsdamer Platz 10 to support its continued growth.

Our current location is highly accessible to our patent attorneys and staff members as well as our clients.

Patent attorney Dr. Andreas Beyer joined our partnership in 2010 thus strengthening our chemistry and life science branch.

Our priority is to provide personal, individual, and continuous service to our clients. Our working method based on collegiality allows us to attend to large-scale mandates as well as sole inventors and medium-sized companies. We will continue to adapt our future development to the needs of our clients in order to provide the same high-quality and reliable legal service in the field of legal protection.
